Slot machine games are possibly the most popular games to gamble on at casinos. On any given night, expect most of the machines to be packed with enthusiastic gamblers. They come in a multitude of gambling levels; some only cost five cents a play while others can cost upwards of $20 a spin. Although slot machines are a gambling tool, a number of folks are intimidated by the big money table games and prefer the fun and thrill of a great slot machine.

The 1st slot machine was assembled in Eighteen Ninety Five and was called the "Liberty Bell." Created by a California machinist, the earliest slot games had three reels with diamonds, hearts, spades and a cracked Liberty Bell affixed on each. Prior to this invention, the term "slot machines" was used to characterize various types of vending machines.

The first real widespread use of one armed bandits in American brick and mortar casinos is credited to the Flamingo Hotel, Sin City in and around the 40’s. The administrator of the brick and mortar casino had initially thought the slot machines would be awesome to fascinate bored wives of some of the largest high roller customers of the betting house. Little did he know that the slots would be an exciting activity for almost everyone and that the enticement would go further than the bored wives. Now, it is said, slot machine games make up over 2/3rds of all revenue generated by American brick and mortar casinos.

Slot machine games absolutely have a rich history. From the little creation of the mid-1800’s to the million dollar industry of today, slot machines will continue to expand in popularity.
